Waldorf Schools around the world
Developed by R. Steiner in 1919, Waldorf education is based on a profound understanding of human development that addresses the needs of the growing child.
The first Waldorf school was created in Stuttgart for children of workers at the Waldorf-Astoria cigarette factory.
In about 60 countries
Since then Steiner-Waldorf school have been present in approximately 60 countries and currently welcome about 250,000 students.
Today, there are more than 700 schools in Europe and 1000 worldwide, more than 1700 kindergartens, 300 specialised education centers: curative education and about 60 teacher training institutes.
75% of Waldorf schools are located in Europe.
Germany, United States and the Netherlands have the largest number of schools, while Norway and Switzerland have the greatest concentration of schools per capita.
Waldorf education is the fastest growing independent educational movement in the world.
